How many of you have experienced this scenario? You are working like normal but start to hear some weird noises coming from the hard drive. You decide to ignore it for a few days thinking it isn't anything major, but then you turn the computer on one day to discover it won't start up. You can hear the fan running like it should, but it quickly shuts back off and that is when you know something major has happening.
Among the things you should learn to watch for is an unusual noise coming from the hard drive, the system running a lot slower than it normally does and of course a failure to start up.
Don't panic right away thinking you have lost everything you had stored on the computer or that you are going to have to get a whole new system.
Here is a break down of the components of a hard drive. The platter is the area in which all of your information is stored on the hard drive disk. A shaft motor moves the platter while the read/write head stores or recalls the information on the hard drive disk. A voice coil helps the read/write head move and a head assembly keeps space between the head and the platter.
My point in all of this is that if even one of these components goes bad, the whole hard drive can mess up. This doesn't mean you have to rush out to buy a new computer either. It just means you need to have the particular component replaced is all. There are a lot of shops that can do this for you
You can easily find a data recovery shop that will take your computer to their shop and repair or replace the faulty part. When you get the system back, all of your information should still be right where you left it. In just a few days you can have your computer back, safe and sound, complete with all the things you thought you had lost just a few days prior.
